  • Salvage Harvest of Hazardous Trees to Begin at Tyler State Park

Work is scheduled to begin on Wednesday January 4, 2017 at Tyler State Park to remove dying ash trees affected by the emerald ash borer and other trees that may become a hazard.

During the active cutting phase of this project, some sections of the park will be closed for the safety of park visitors. There will be heavy equipment and logging operations taking place, we ask that the public refrain from entering these areas and respect all ‘Do Not Enter’ signs for your safety. Park maps indicating logging areas can be obtained at the park office.

The areas that will be closed include the Boathouse Picnic Area and parking lot, majority of the picnic areas and parking lots east of the Neshaminy Creek, portions of the Disc Golf Course and the playground.

The visiting public can still enjoy the western side of the park and the Mill Dam Picnic Area, the southern portions of the Disc Golf Course and the Boathouse Comfort Station can be accessed from the western side of the park and will remain open during this operation. Timber operations will take place Monday through Friday starting at 8AM weather permitting. All parts of the park will be re-opened, based on site and safety conditions, for the weekends.

  • Effective November 4, 2016 the Mill Dam, Plantation, Hickory Nut, Boardwalk and Maze Comfort Stations are winterized and will be closed until spring. This also means the water fountains on the east side of the park are closed for the season. The Boathouse and Quarry Comfort Station will remain open for the winter and facilites are available at the park office during regular business hours.

  • Contrary to the information on Google, Pennsylvania state parks are open every day of the year. Day use areas close at dusk. Park offices are open specific hours. Pools, beaches, and campgrounds are open specific seasons.
  • If you will be using a navigation system (GPS) to find Tyler State Park, type in 101 Swamp Road, Newtown. If you just type Tyler State Park, you may be directed to the wrong side of the park which is off limits to vehicles.
  • Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV), remotely piloted vehicles (RPV) or unmanned aircraft systems (UAS), all commonly referred to as DRONES, their commercial and general recreational use is not permitted in PA State Parks. Drones create a variety of safety, wildlife impacts and privacy issues. Therefore, they are prohibited in Tyler State Park and all other PA State Parks.
