Havice Valley Road Bridge Replacement: A project to replace the bridge on Havice Valley Road crossing over Havice Creek will commence as soon as weather permits. The estimated completion time is three months, weather permitting. Havice Valley Road will be closed during the project. Poe Paddy visitors should plan an alternate route utilizing the Sand Mountain exit off Rt 322. Signage will be in place at each road intersection prior to any work being done to deliver the most up-to-date information regarding the project. |
Barefoot Bridge Closure: Barefoot Bridge, east of Milroy on Honey Creek Road, will be under construction starting June 2018. Park visitors travelling to Reeds Gap State Park should plan an alternate route using Siglerville Pike. Park visitors travelling to Poe Valley and Poe Paddy State Parks should plan an alternate route using the Sand Mountain exit off rt 322. |
Poe Valley is participating in the Smoke Free Beach Program which has been in effect since May 1, 2017. Smoking is prohibited on the sand portion of the beach and in the swimming area. For visitors who smoke and still want to use this beach, two designated areas adjacent to the beach are provided. The restriction includes cigarettes, pipes, cigars, e-cigarettes or other handheld, lighted smoking devices. The goal of this program is to improve the air quality for park visitors at and around the beach swimming area, in addition to reducing the amount of cigarette litter in this area. |
General Firewood Quarantine: Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture has enacted a quarantine order for untreated firewood of any kind coming into the state. Any firewood brought into the state must be kiln dried, heat treated, fumigated, and/or USDA Certified. Contrary to the information on Google, Pennsylvania state parks are open every day of the year. Day use areas close at dusk. Park offices are open specific hours. Pools, beaches, and campgrounds are open specific seasons. |
Poe Paddy State Park is located at the confluence of Big Poe Creek and Penns Creek, a trout angler’s paradise featuring the nationally recognized green drake mayfly hatch in June. Hikers also walk Mid State Trail through the 250-foot long Paddy Mountain Railroad Tunnel.
