Trail Description

A surface of crushed limestone has now been completed thanks to Amtrak, who needed to install new power lines along the corridor. If biking, mountain bikes and hybrids are recommended rather than road bikes. Technically the entire corridor is open; however, each township manages its own section as it chooses to. There is a detour around Route 222 near Quarryville; plans are in the works to build a pedestrian bridge over the highway. For trail updates and conditions call the local township managers. The scenic 5.5 mile trail features the Susquehanna River, Safe Harbor Dam and active Norfolk Southern freight line. Manor Township is proud to have a virtually flat trail that twists and turns through the picturesque Susquehanna Valley. With its distinctive location and "bench" between the river and majestic\rock formations, the trail is truly one of the most beautiful iconic landscapes in Pennsylvania. The Martic Forge Viaduct is now open! The trestle over Pequea Creek has a wide wooden plank pedestrian walkway decking on top, connecting the Conestoga and Martic township sections of the Enola Low Grade rail-trail.
